Join or Die - War is Peace

What more is the notion "Join or Die" than a possible link to Orwell's inspiration of "War is Peace" from 1984? The implication here is basic black and white/good versus evil jargon; if you do not join you will die. However, that was a lie.

What is a lie which hides itself in truth? A form of mental tyranny intended to inflict the mind with fear and sway opinions, not by the light of reason and critical thinking, but subversively in the dark.

There is a lot of high-minded talk about the American Founders fighting tyranny, the truth however, they employed tyrannical means just as well.

The answer to 1984 is not 1776, but evolution on an individual level centered upon breaking the chains of groupthink by thinking individually. I am not advocating breaking away from groups or isolating from society. I am advocating the people maintain their individuality within society and no longer kill the diversity born under realized freedom.
